The existential threat of World War III is real. There are two major conflicts in the world today that can lead to WW3. First is the war in Gaza, where Israel is committing genocide. There is great risk of expanding the war to the region, as Muslims throughout the world (as well as non-Muslims) are outraged at what Israel is doing. Today the war already engages Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. If the war expands regionally, the threat is there for other world powers to be drawn into the conflict, including Russia and China against Western powers.
The second is the war in Ukraine. The West keeps arming Ukraine in the billions, resulting in the tragic deaths of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians (as well as Russians). The West is determined to fight to the last Ukrainian. The war can end very quickly if the West and NATO stop moving against Russia right up to its borders. But now some in NATO are even advocating sending their troops into Ukraine (they are already there covertly). If this happens, that is a declaration of war against Russia, and as Putin says, will be resisted, if necessary with nuclear weapons.
In both Gaza and Ukraine, the main culprit is the US government, which sends billions of dollars worth of munitions. Both wars will end quickly if the US and its NATO allies stop supplying death-dealing arms.
